Other views on Craps History
According to gaming guru Mark Pilarski, the craps game originated in the East here Arabs played a game they called azzahr-the die. The game moved across Europe and eventually showed up in France- was renamed 'hasard' and jumped the channel to become 'hazard' in England. The craps game then roamed from Europe to the Americas, where French colonies adopted it as crabes. Moving south to what is now Louisiana-the French morphed into Cajuns, calling the craps game creps, crabes or crebes. It's a short jump from crepes to the craps game as we know it today.
